CANVAS Training

 

Description - Canvas Tools (1 USOE credit) All Classes Start at 8:30am

Day one

Objective: How a learning management system can be used in a blended or hybrid system in the single computer classroom?
Activity: Teachers will assume the role of a student and take a sample Canvas course.
Process: Establish teacher/user accounts review how to use Canvas tools to navigate the course. Teachers will participate in the course consisting of short video clips, web sites, submit assignments, online discussions, take assessments, work with word and pdf files.

Objective: Learn how to manage an online, blended or hybrid Canvas course.
Activity: Teachers will assume the role of a teacher and review the data collected from the “teachers as students” activity they will review their own submissions and others from the Canvas course.
Process: Review the data collected and modify the practice canvas curriculum to meet the needs of the students/teachers based on data.

Objective: Introduce teachers how to develop online assignments and assessments.
Activities; Develop assignments - Develop assessments

Day two
Objectives: Tie all assignments, activities, and assessments to course standards and objectives
Activity: Teachers will use a common referencing system to indicate the standard and objective that assignments, activities, and assessments.

Objective: Learn how to use and develop the Canvas tools to support student learning.
Activities; Create or import syllabus - Develop scoring rubrics to assess assignments -Develop grade book
Several Days will be given so the participant has time to implement the Canvas tools into their courses.

Day one

Objective: Learn how to use student accounts and tools in Google Documents.
Activity: Teachers will learn how to integrate Google Documents into their Canvas courses.

Objective: Learn how to use and develop the Canvas tools to support student learning.
Activities; Learn how to use and assess discussions - Create modules and assignment groups -Set up collaborative projects

Objective: Learn how to use screen capture software.
Activity: Teachers will use screen capture software and microphone to record their computer desktop.

Day two
Objective: Learn how to use and develop the Canvas tools to support student learning.
Activities;
Import/export courses
Learn how to add and delete students and place them into sections

Objective: Insure the quality of the blended or hybrid courseware – celebrate the success.
Activity: Teachers will assume the role of a student and peer review courses that have been developed.
Activity: Teachers will present their best and “most in need of improvement” sections of their developed courses.
